Safety
I ordered a bunch of these boxes for where I work. I have workers wear them when they are sick and since they deal with patients they are a great item to have. These are a must in any medical setting.

N95 Mask
3M makes quite a few of these N95 masks packages. This package is inexpensive but the edge of the mask is sharp. It means when you wear one for more than a few minutes, it cuts into your face. I would not buy this package again.

3M 8000 RECALLED 010410
Quoted from a Safety News "Flash-Report"
Cal-OSHA Reporter's Jan. 4 flash report about the recall of 3M 8000 respirators made reference to the "8000 series." That term has triggered a deluge of questions to Cal/OSHA about whether other 3M respirators are affected by the recall, which was ordered when health-care employers reported an unacceptably high failure rate during fit tests.
For instance, Craig Brown, senior industrial hygienist for the VHA Center for Engineering & Occupational Safety and Health in Pittsburgh, Pa., notes that there are several sub-series of the 3M 8000 N95 respirators with different face molds, such as 8210, 8211, 8511, 8612, 8670 and more.
The only respirators that have been recalled are the 8000s, says DOSH Senior Safety Engineer Deborah Gold. "Other N95 respirators are not affected by the alert," she says.
Maybe OK for dirt or dust particles but if your considering this mask for protection against virus or illnesses, think again...

A Breath Of Fresh Air
I've been in construction all my life and used these masks in a woodworking environment to protect me against the toxic wood dust. When I moved and began to live alone - and without lawn service - I found I needed to use particle maskes to protect me while mowing and sweeping.
After using masks from the dollar store and a major home store I remembered these great units. I went on Amazon and bought a box. I am very satisfied.
While the cheap masks and the ones from the home store (which cost B000GUP7X4.50 each) suffered from poor coverage and loose fitment, the 3M 8000's cover throughly and the moldable heavy duty metal nose piece makes a strong seal at the bridge of the nose preventing fogging of glasses or goggles. Plus, they have two elastic bands. One for the neck and the other for the head above the ears. The cost per mask is only about fifty cents and they can easily be used three times before becoming soiled to a point of needing to be discarded.
I highly recommend these impressive professional masks.

Status unknown. Purchased because of H1N1 virus. Don't have any expectations for success. Purchases for peace of mind. What I have read, says the use of the N95 mask has no value and to have value it would requires a 20 minute fitting, which is able to be done. Failure is impossible because expectations are missing. Rating is also impossible without expectations.
